Grading Policy

  • Homework/Project Assignments: 35% of semester grade. See assignment info below.
  • Quizzes (a.k.a. Vitamins): 10% of the semester grade. (we will drop your lowest two vitamin scores).
  • Two Mid-terms: 30% of the semester grade total.
    • 18% will come from your higher-scored exam, 12% from your lower-scored exam.
  • Final Exam: 25% of the semester grade.
Notes on grading (please read):
  • The percentages are subject to change as circumstances dictate.
  • Active participation in piazza and/or section can positively affect your final grade.
  • Work that you submit must be your own. We will run the standard software duplication checkers on submitted assignments.
  • We will be following the EECS departmental policy on Academic Honesty, so be sure you are familiar with it.  And hey -- don't cheat.  Not cool.

See the Homework Assignments page for pointers to the assignments.

Late Policy on Assignments:

Each student gets an extension budget of 3 days (72 hours) worth of time. You can use the extension on any assignment(s) during the semester other than HW0.  We will track lateness of each assignment in minutes and deduct that amount from the 72-hour budget.

Do not plan to use your slip minutes—they are there for unforeseen circumstances!

After you have used up your extension budget, any assignment handed in late will be marked off 33.3% per day late,  rounded up to the nearest integer number of days. No assignment will be accepted more then 3 days late.
